Choosing the Right Eye-shadow Color
There are no hard and fast rules when choosing eye shadow colors, but at the back of your mind, you want to have a few tips that will help guide you in the right direction.
My advice: Use contrasting colors to brighten a brown eye. Because brown eyes tend to get lost, the key is to brighten them. I love to use purple and blue eye shadows. They’re gorgeous and they help bring your brown eyes to life.
Bring out your baby blues with darker hues. For blue eyes, you want to use contrasting shades and darker colors to really intensify them. Use eye shadows with shades of brown, chocolates, or caramel. They help bring out the blue and make them more vivid.
Unlike with the blue or brown eye where we’re using contrasting eye shadow colors to really make them pop, with the green or hazel eye, I prefer to use colors within the same family. I love the shades of khaki, green, mustard, and olive brown, to play them up. There’s an old school rule that purple and lavenders work best on green and hazel eyes, but today there are many more options, so let’s not limit ourselves to just a few colors. When you want to use green on green eyes, you want to lean towards more in the olive colors because they look more natural.
- Put a cold wet cloth on your eyes in the morning to help the swelling go down and wake you up.
- Put very thin layer of Vaseline on your eyelids to moisturize and make them shine.
- Getting enough sleep should be your top priority above all other steps. Be sure you are getting at least seven to eight hours of sleep every single day. If you don’t get enough sleep, your eyes may look red or puffy the next day.
- Use damp, green tea teabags or a cotton ball dipped in milk to make your eyes appear well rested.
- Try using eye drops to get rid of redness and make your eyes appear brighter
